Do you need Religion to be happy?

Am I not happy or have joy because I don't have a place of worship? I don't believe so,

I have been in an organized religion and it wasn't for me. So many things they did, said or believed upset me. I also hated to sit with fellow worshipers and be judged for not looking, acting or having certain things that they think I should. I suppose that is with all religions. I know I don't want to be somewhere and hear the same thing over and over. I don't want to be threatened with hell fire or have to memorize something to be saved. I don't want to spill my "sins" to another human to be saved either. I don't know, I don't think that is it.

I am not a godless person. I do have my own believes. They are ideas and thoughts that I have decided that I am comfortable with. I don't push them on anyone or do I ask that anyone follows them. My beliefs do no fall into any category of any specific religion. So there is no place to "worship" altho what I believe there doesn't need to be a place to do so. I will share my beliefs, they are not a secret. I believe that we will be judged or measured by our lives and heart. If we were kind, loving, giving and tried to be a good person we will not be punished, but on the other hand if you hurt others, were selfish, hateful, ect. You will have to face those things. Everyone is free to choose but you are not free from the consequences of your choices. I believe that there is something after death or why would we grow to love grandparents, parents, family and friends. If we can't see them again. I don't believe death is the end. Simple believes, but I can sleep at night knowing these thing.

Mr.X and I have different believes and guess what? That is just fine with both of us. We don't fight about it or judge the other for what we think. We share our thoughts and ideas about religion freely. We have raised our children without any structured/organized religion and guess what? They are respectful, friendly, caring, polite and hardworking kids. So I am thinking it is how you raise them, not what religion you raise them with. Our children are free to believe what they want, all we ask of them is to explore before they become firm with their beliefs and also what you believe can change.

The more I talk about this the more I believe  that religion isn't going to make me happy. It does help to write is all out and think about it.

So I guess I will check this off the Joy and Happiness list,

Do what makes your happy?!?

Everywhere I go these days I see signs and posters, sayings, notebooks, anything you can think of with inspirational saying on them.

"do what makes you happy!"
"be you, everyone else is taken"
ect....

But, what if you have NO IDEA what makes you happy or who you are? Well, then I guess you are lost with me. To be completely honest. I have no clue what makes me happy and I have no idea who I am. I know that I don't want to leave the life I have and I don't want to be without Mr.X and my children, but that is about all I do know. Things I think that might make me happy, don't really. They take my mind off the stresses of life but that is about it. Maybe people are talking about things that distract you make you happy. I have no idea.

This blog isn't about a epic journey of self discovery or the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, it is just about ME and what I am going to do. I have no advice on anything. I just want a sounding board and blog seemed like the best option at the time.

Sincerely,
         Mrs.X
